Edwin Harris's use of brillant colors and the softly flowing garments of his African and Caribbean marketplace scenes create vibrant pictures of a peaceful world, where, if you close your eyes, you can hear the conversations taking place. Tender scenes of mothers and children reflect the nurturing and support he received as a young child. Harris' artistic soul manifested itself at an early age. He has recollections creating "original" art with charcoal on the brown paper bags used by his father's country store customers. Originally from Barbadoes, West Indies, he spent most of the last 20 years of his life living in Southern California. His exceptional talent continues to receive international as well as domestic recognition.
