Born April 19, 1943 in Port-au-Prince Haiti, Rameau Cameau went to school up to our equivalent of sophomore in high school. After working as a painter, he began to paint with his brother-in-law, Calixthe Henry. He has been on his own since 1973. Rameau's work has been included in many shows on contemporary Haitian art. At one time primarily a virtue painter, he now employers other every day things: people working and children playing. He works very carefully and slowly with a razor blade and this painstaking approach is evident in the find me wrought details of his canvasses.
